Politics: Here We Go Again!

I must admit that i really haven't been keeping up to date intentionally on the goings on of this years electoral campaigning. It's usually several weeks before i hear about anything that happens, however it seems as though the closer we get to the elections, the more bile everyone has a tendency to vomit all over my social networking pages and quite frankly i'm fucking tired of it.

I find it unpalatable how the human race has such a knack for uniting as one whenever something truly tragic happens, but when something pointless and insignificant happens we'll quarrel with each other until we all die from lack of oxygen.

It seems like the electoral season has become nothing more than an Reality TV Show. Some paid professional is told to incite a riot so he goes out and creates a picture of some politician and slaps on a misquoted quote from said politician and shoves it off into the internet and all just like that, we're trying to rip each other's jugular veins out with our fucking teeth. Is this really the level of intelligence that we've stooped to as a society? We can't debate like normal human beings? We have to backhandedly go about debasing everyone who doesn't believe in the same toothpaste brand as me by pulling their ugliest baggage into the lime light and then putting neon signs around that baggage that all say "look at this asshole, (s)he did this once and we should ridicule them till (s)he kills themselves from the guilt!! Because we're perfect human beings and none of us have any baggage or guilt ourselves!" with a giant, vegas-style, flashing arrow.

Seriously people, what the FUCK is wrong with all of you? To think there was a time when electoral seasons were all about who had the better solutions to popular current events. Now it's all about how immoral somebody was once when no one was looking or what the worst mistake they ever made was.

I'm not going to state who i am for or against, because quite frankly i think you can't trust any of them about as far as you could throw their rich asses, but to give a perfect example, let's observe the 2008 elections. I've spoken briefly on this subject before in a previous blog but i haven't really been over the media aspect too much. In example, the way the press climbed up Sarah Palin's ass and pitched tents for the entire year leading up to the inauguration of Obama about how her daughter was under-aged and was with child. They were debasing Sarah Palin for something her daughter did. I don't care how you feel about her; i agree she has a tendency to dodge questions by going off on rants in her silly canadian accent. But if you've EVER had a child, you know it's next to impossible to have a leash so tight on your child that they can't sneak behind your back and do things without your knowledge.

I know this to be a fact because i used to date a girl like that! Her parents used to keep a leash so tight on her it would suffocate me, and somehow we managed to sneak together every day for 2 years and do nothing but play with each other while watching the Disney Channel. Her mother still, to this day, has no clue. It's not something i'm proud of, but it still stands on display as an example of how impossible it is for parents to be able to know what their children are doing 100% of the time. And if you are a parent and you think you do know what your children are doing 100% of the time? I hate to say it, but you probably don't know your children... at all... Especially if they're teenagers. The worst part is? It only takes once for a child to be conceived.

So to chastise Palin for something she had no control over is really kind of a low blow. It's shallow and has no bearing on anything political. Same goes for Obama and half the shit he says. Again, not casting my opinion into the fray, merely analyzing that half of the shit that extreme right organizations piss and moan about when it comes to Obama, is generally taken out of context and pitched in some way to harm Obama's campaign. Keep in mind, these are the same people who hiss and bitch about how reading the bible in fragments and trying to pull some alternate meaning is heresy, because "text out of context is pretext." which is all slanderous and misguiding. Yet, when it comes to election season, everyone has to throw on their best reality television show faces and go against all their believes to try to level the playing field. Well, i got news for all of you: In the words of the late, great Mahatma Gandhi, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" or the old chinese proverb, "he who seeks revenge should remember to dig two graves."

So, America, can we all stop pretending to be 4 year old's and stop throwing sand in each others eyes to "get even" and grow a fucking pair? I mean seriously, grow up America. If you can't play nice in the sand box then nobody's getting ice cream.

P.S. You're welcome to comment if you like, but if you post something to the extent of "No! My party doesn't do that, you're wrong! It's only the party opposing mine!" then i'm gonna be forced to delete your comment. Quite frankly, i've seen enough people vomit their own fecal matter all over my facebook, Google+ and twitter pages; and i have a strict no shit policy. I'm not asking for your opinions and why you think you're better than everyone else, i'm pointing out shared flaws.

The Media Complex

It's interesting to observe how we all react on a daily basis to what is displayed by the media and it's related press. Every day, millions of people tune into the news to get up to date news on the current events of the world, most of those people never even bat an eye or begin to question whether or not what they're being told is true or not. The old, sarcastic saying "well it's on the internet so it must be right" applies just as equally for the same reasons to the news and related medias.

I was never really raised with the impression of question what i saw, read of was told. I was always raised with a strong, finite set of ideals in which i was punished strictly if i strayed away from. To me, it was the way i was raised, to others it makes me a pathetic person for having never questioned anything i was spoon-fed for so many years. It wasn't until late 2008 when the 2008 elections were going on (as well as a very turbulent period with my hormones and relationships) that i began to question media around me. I noticed the people who had raised me began to contradict themselves. talking about how war is the only option one day and then how they demand world peace right now the next. It was quite a paradox and to add insult to injury, it had been going on since the day i was born and had never noticed it.

I began to tire of people repeatedly preaching their opinions onto my "impressionable" mind and started analyzing what they were saying. It was nothing malicious... honest, i mean it. It was just that i was a teenager tired of being told thing i already heard 4 times before and was in a shitty mood to begin with. The more i analyzed what people said, the more i became disgusted with society. The more i became disgusted with myself. I realized that even so much as feeling disgust for them and not for myself was hypocritical and that had become something that i swiftly hated. If there is any one thing i hate in this world over all other things it would be hypocrisy. People who preach it but refuse to practice it.

I'll tell you right now that the following months after this realization were the most turbulent of my life. I spent a great deal of that time trying to figure out who i was. It didn't help very much that my girlfriend of 3 years had just broken up with me after cheating on me and telling me about how bad she felt for doing it then continuing doing it, but that's a story for another time. I was in a genuine state of emotional turmoil. I locked myself out from the outside world and began to re-sculpt the very fibers of my being into something i could live with. Don't get me wrong, it took a very, VERY long time, but i managed to do it, and even though i am still hypocritical, i have learned to pick up on it and i have learned that correcting myself immediately is much better than just sweeping it under the carpet like the rest of society does.

The multi-million dollar monster that we have created and called the media has been molding society any way it wants for generations and very few people have noticed it. Many people fail to grasp the concept that if the media were to come on tomorrow and say that being jewish is a genetic defect that is plaguing society and needs to be exterminated, that there would actually be hordes of people slaughtering any person of jewish decent for weeks maybe even months before it was placed under control. And the government wouldn't blame it on the media for releasing the story because that would be in violation of their first amendment rights. they would simply arrest the people who committed mass homicides and be done with it.

Don't get me wrong, anyone stupid enough to blindly follow that intensely should be arrested to protect themselves from themselves, but the media is just as much to blame as the people committing the crime. They're the ones inciting the riots. They know they have the public in such a malleable state yet they continue to manipulate it in any way they wish.

The true heart of the matter can be best underlined by example. When was the last time you think you heard a 100% true, unbiased story on your local news stations? If you can come up with an answer regardless of the amount of time it takes, you're lying to yourself and you need to stop. History is written by the victor, those in power. And the media has more power than the president himself. If MSNBC, Fox News and CNN were to all band together and say that the Obama Health Care Reforms were in the publics best interest and list 5 bulleted reasons as to why? There would be significantly less opposition to run it through. The alternative is equally true, if all three of those stations were to air that it was the worst bill conceived, the bill wouldn't stand a chance.

I'm not vouching my personal, political opinions into the mix, i am merely using the Obamacare bills as an example. So what can you do to stop it? Question everything you're told. Hear something on the news that influences you in any way? go to the internet, research both sides, research the "on the fence" arguments, and research the indefferent arguments. Research until there is nothing more to research, and then formulate an opinion for yourself based on what you've learned and what you know. Will you still be biased? yes, absolutely, without a doubt. Will it still be as bad a bias as just blindly following anything you hear on the news? Absolutely not.

We're all opinionated scumbags. We all have our individual reservations. It's the steps we take to turn our reservations into educated opinions that makes us better than the rest. What has tipped you off as suspicious in the media recently?

Resident Authority

Are we, as a species, the resident authority on anything outside of our own planet? or even our planet for that matter. The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy shows us that our planet could merely be the most powerful supercomputer in the galaxy, constructed by mice which are the smartest species known to man, and we would never know or believe unless we were shown the factory.

I remember distinctly a few years back that we had discovered a new single-celled organism that we had brought back from Mars or the moon or something along those lines. We were absolutely baffled at how the organism could survive in the harshness of space without the necessities for life. Mainly food, water and air. Scientists often fail to grasp the concept that our species is not the end-all see all of the universe. If there are other species out there (which i believe whole-heartedly there is) who gave us the knowledge to outright say that they require the same building blocks as we do to survive?

Last time i checked, there was no celestial blue print that demanded all forms of life be humanoid and survive off the same basic elements. Allow me to bring up a few arguments:

1. Everything in the known universe is created of the same 4 or 5 basic elements, from the quarks in our cells to the stars that provide the dazzling show of pinhole light in the sky we see every night. However we have decided that the stars are not alive, they're essentially time bombs with a several billion year fuse.
2. We were not the first things in the universe, and we will most certainly not be the last.
3. All of our scientific theories, as time has progressed, have been proven wrong by a more accurate and complex scientific theory. However, the theories in themselves are just that, theories. Scientific hypothesis which can not be dis-proven due to some reason or another. Much like the speed of light. it is Theorized that we can not break the speed of light with any means of propulsion. What prevents it from being dis-proven? our ability to break the speed of light with any means of propulsion.

I find that people desperately hold onto these theories as if they were the law. And when someone suggest something way out in left field their response is "It would work of it didn't break *insert scientific theory*."



Who are we to demand that we know everything there is to know about how life is formed in the universe. For all we know, we may find out that the clouds in the sky are merely non-corporeal beings and we have not yet realized a form of communcation advanced enough to communicate with them while they observe us. I'm not saying it's true, but i'm not saying we should dismiss the thought either.

The fact remains that we do not know all there is to know about how life is formed. Up until just recently (in the grand scheme of things) we knew almost nothing compared to what we know now. I'm sure in another 80 years, we'll look back at where we are now and view ourselves as brutish and archaic. The universe is full of unknowns and before we discover them, we should venture to discover ourselves first, and get a little more humble about how lack-luster we really are compared to other potential species.
